Brownie S'mores
I discovered how great these taste when I forgot to take graham crackers camping, but we had taken brownies. So we improvised and ummm...yummy.
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup cocoa
1/2 cup shortening or margarine
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chopped peanuts
1 6-ounce package chocolate chips
1 bag marshmallows
PREPARATION:
- At home: Mix together flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa and set aside. In a separate bowl melt shortening(margarine). Mix in sugar, eggs, peanut butter, and vanilla. Add flour mixture. Add in the nuts and chocolate chips.
- Put into a greased 9 inch x 13 inch pan. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 25-30 minutes. Cool and cut into 1 1/2 inch squares. Place in a container with a lid to take camping.
- At the campground: Cut brownies in half horizontally, and set aside. Place marshmallow on a stick and toast over campfire coals until golden brown. Place marshmallow on one brownie half and place other half on top. Squish together slightly and enjoy.
- Servings: 48
Preparation time: 45 minutes
