Butter Onion Trout

This is one of the easist ways to cook a good meal when primitive camping.

INGREDIENTS:
fresh trout, any kind
1 tablespoon butter
salt and pepper
1 small onion, sliced

PREPARATION:

  • Clean the fish. Leaving the fish whole, stuff the insides with butter, salt and pepper, and as many onions as will fit.
  • Place stuffed trout on buttered foil and wrap up. Place over fire for 7-10 minutes.

  • Servings: 4
    Preparation time: 10 minutes

Grocery List:

For four scouts

  • 4 fresh trout, any kind
  • 1 stick butter
  • 4 small onions
  • [Note: some lemons or lemon juice would go well with this recipe
  • salt or seasoned salt
  • pepper
  • Heavy duty foil or pouches [one per scout]

For eight scouts

  • 8 fresh trout, any kind
  • 1 stick butter
  • 8 small onions
    • [Note: some lemons or lemon juice would go well with this recipe
  • salt or seasoned salt
  • pepper
  • Heavy duty foil or pouches [one per scout]

For Twelve scouts

  • 12 fresh trout, any kind
  • 2 stick butter
  • 12 small onions
    • [Note: some lemons or lemon juice would go well with this recipe
  • salt or seasoned salt
  • pepper
