Campfire Blooming Onions
If you love blooming onions, this is a good and easy recipe. You might like serving it with a dip.

INGREDIENTS:
4 large Vidalia onions
1/4 cup butter
4 cloves of garlic
salt and pepper, to taste

PREPARATION:

  • Peel onions and cut each one into quarters, keeping onions together.
  • Place 1 tablespoon of butter and 1 clove of garlic in the middle of each onion.
  • Double wrap each onion in foil and place on hot coals.
  • Cook for 30 to 40 minutes. Carefully remove from coals and unwrap.
  • Season with salt and pepper, then eat.
  • You can also serve with a Ranch dip or hot sauce.

    • Servings: 4 Preparation time: 45 minutes

    For four scouts

    • 1 whole garlic
    • 1 roll of heavy duty foil or foil pouches [you will need one pouch per scout]
    • Salt
    • Pepper

    For eight scouts

    • 8 large Vidalia onions
    • 2 sticks of butter or margerine
    • 2 whole garlic
    • 1 roll of heavy duty foil or foil pouches [you will need one pouch per scout]
    • Salt
    • Pepper

    For Twelve scouts

    • 12 large Vidalia onions
    • 3 sticks of butter or margerine
    • 3 whole garlic
    • 1 roll of heavy duty foil or foil pouches [you will need one pouch per scout]
    • Salt
