Campfire Potatoes
You can add cheese to the potatoes for flavor also.

INGREDIENTS:
3 pounds peeled potatoes
4 strips bacon (raw)
1 medium onion
6 - 8 teaspoons butter
garlic salt
pepper

PREPARATION:

  • Slice potatoes and put them on a piece of foil that has been spread with butter so the potatoes do not stick.
  • Cut up onion and bacon into small pieces and put on the potatoes.
  • Slice or drop small amounts of remaining butter on potatoes.
  • Sprinkle potatoes with garlic salt and pepper to taste.
  • Either put in the oven or on the fire for about an hour.
  • If you put it on the fire, make sure you turn the potatoes often so they do not burn.

    • Servings: 4 Preparation time: 20 minutes

    For four scouts

    • 4 potatoes
    • 1 pound of bacon (raw)
    • 1 medium onion
    • 1 stick of butter or margerine
    • 1 small bottle of garlic salt
    • 1 small package of shreded cheese [opptional]
    • 1 roll of heavy duty foil or foil pouches [you will need one pouch per scout]
    • Salt
    • Pepper

    For eight scouts

    • 8 potatoes
    • 2 pound of bacon (raw)
    • 2 medium onions
    • 2 sticks of butter or margerine
    • 1 small bottle of garlic salt
    • 1 medium package of shreded cheese [opptional]
    • 1 roll of heavy duty foil or foil pouches [you will need one pouch per scout]
    • Salt
    • Pepper

    For Twelve scouts

    • 12 potatoes
    • 2 pound of bacon (raw)
    • 3 medium onion
    • 3 sticks of butter or margerine
    • 1 small bottle of garlic salt
    • 1 large package of shreded cheese [opptional]
    • 1 roll of heavy duty foil or foil pouches [you will need one pouch per scout]
    • Salt
